Analytics (optional)
With your permission, Google Analytics helps us understand which counties and stores people look for so we can prioritise our research. These cookies are only set if you agree to them. In the UK and EU that choice is made in the same consent popup as adverts: Google Analytics runs only if you allow storing information on your device, measuring content performance and understanding audiences through statistics. Elsewhere we ask with our own short banner. Google Analytics’ advertising features are switched off.

Advertising (optional)
Adverts on this site are managed by Mediavine. Mediavine and its advertising partners use cookies, pixels and similar technologies to show adverts, limit repeats, measure performance and prevent fraud, and, with your consent, to show adverts based on your interests.
In the UK and EU, Mediavine’s consent tool appears on your first visit and lets you accept, reject or choose individual purposes and partners. Personalised advertising cookies are only set if you agree. Because the partners and cookies involved change often, Mediavine keeps the current list of ad partners and their privacy policies. Your advertising choices are stored by the consent tool itself, in cookies and storage it manages.
Mediavine’s script also loads Grow, Mediavine’s reader tool, which may use cookies or local storage to remember features you choose to use, such as saved pages.
Affiliate links
Some links to online shops are affiliate links. We don’t set any affiliate cookies on this site. If you follow one, the shop or affiliate network (for example Amazon or Awin) may set its own cookies on its site to record the referral, under its own cookie policy. See our affiliate disclosure.
Managing your choices
- Analytics and advertising: select Cookie settings in the footer at any time to reopen the consent popup. If you turn analytics off we stop it straight away and delete its cookies.
- Interest-based advertising: you can also opt out through Your Online Choices.
- Your browser: most browsers let you block or delete cookies and local storage. Blocking strictly necessary storage may mean the site forgets your choices, but every listing stays available.
