Oriental Store Directory UK operates from the United Kingdom and the project maintainers act as the data controller for any personal data processed through this website. You can reach us via listings@orientalstoredirectory.co.uk. We only collect information that helps us keep the directory accurate, respond to questions, and demonstrate how the site is used.

Information we collect

• Directory research: We compile business details from publicly available sources (official registers, store websites, community submissions and social profiles). These details normally include business names, physical addresses, phone numbers, and service descriptions that were already made public by the retailer.
• Store submissions: When you send new listings or corrections we collect the submitted shop information plus the submitter’s name, email address and any other contact details you choose to provide so that we can verify the entry.
• Correspondence & support: Emails sent to listings@orientalstoredirectory.co.uk (including attachments) and direct messages through social channels are stored while we work on your request and for short-term record keeping.
• Analytics & technical data: We use privacy-friendly analytics that capture aggregated page views, referral information and device type to understand which areas of the site are popular. We do not create advertising profiles or store raw IP addresses.

How we use information & lawful basis

We process personal data in order to publish and maintain the directory, to verify submissions, to respond to questions and takedown requests, and to analyse aggregated traffic so that we can prioritise research. These activities are carried out under our legitimate interests in running the project and, when applicable, to comply with legal obligations or to honour a specific request you have made.
